La Casa de Mama Gloria is located in the region of Calca, Peru, the capital of the Sacred Inca Valley. It is just 51 km (~30 miles) along the highway from Cusco, where ancient terraces still mark the foothills of the snow-capped Vilcanota Mountains, where condors still soar overhead and the mighty river still irrigates the fertile valley.
Calca is lower in altitude (and therefore more comfortable to most visitors) than Cusco. Calca is a friendly, working class community, still unaffected by throngs of tourism.More
La Casa de Mama Gloria is also an excellent place from which to base your explorations of Machu Pichu, the ruins of Ollanytaytambo and Pisac, as well as their thriving communities, markets and culture. Hike to the nearby beautiful lakes of Pitusiray or the archaeological complex of Huchuy Qosqo and the thermal medicine baths of Machacancha.
At La Casa de Mama Gloria, with its breathtaking views and modern conveniences, the wonderful smells of cooking from Mama Gloria's kitchen waft in the mountain breeze, calling guests to enjoy sumptuous, healthy meals and fresh local juices.More
